Girls Fe 13 Football League SF vs Naomh Aban Tues Aug 23rd

The Fe 13 girls played their league semifinal against Naomh Aban last month. It was a very close affair with defenses on top. There was never more than a kick of a ball between the two teams until the visitors scored a goal in the second half. Despite their best efforts to get back into the game Nemo couldn’t break down the resolute Naomh Aban defense. Final score was 0-05 to 1-08 in favour of the visitors. Well done to them and best of luck in the final. It was a great campaign for the Nemo girls who played some great football over the course of the summer. Well done to all involved.

Minor P1 Football Championship QF vs Ballincollig Weds Aug 24th

The minor boys played a gripping quarter final with Ballincollig in Pairc Ui Rinn recently. They had the worst possible starts and after 10 mins they were 2 goals behind. They steadied the ship with some well taken points. But Ballincollig came strong again toward half time. But for the excellence of the Nemo keeper the game would have been over at half time. Half time score was Nemo 0-06 Ballincollig 2-05. The boys had a mountain to climb in the second half. But climb it they did. With excellent play from center forward Kevin O’Donovan and the sheer persistence of Mark Cronin at full forward they managed to claw their way back into the game. Allied to this the excellence of the Nemo defense in the second half - who only conceded two points – they managed to pull off an unlikely victory. Ballincollig threw the kitchen sink at Nemo in the dying minutes to try and get an equalizer but in the end they ran out of time. Final score was 0-14 to 2-07 for Nemo. They can now look forward to a championship semi-final against near neighbors and rivals St Finbarrs. Well done to all involved.

The girls had a very competitive outing recently against Midleton. They hurled very well in the first half and held their own on the score board.
