Girls Fe 11 Football League vs Ballygarvan Wed Aug 2nd

The Fe 11 girls traveled to Ballygarvan for a Sumer league tie last week. This was an excellent game with two very evenly matched sides. There was never more than a score between them. Nemo got ahead in the second half and held the lead right until the final whistle despite some tremendous pressure from the home side. In the end Nemo prevailed on a final score of 3-06 to 3-05. Well done to both teams for the great entertainment provided.

Girls Fe 11 Football League vs Douglas Wed Aug 9th

The Fe 11 girls traveled to neighbours Douglas last week for another summer league tie. They played really well and scored some excellent goals. This was the real difference between the teams. The Nemo girls took their chances in front of goal. In the end they won 5-05 to 0-04. They are now qualified for their league semifinal where they will take on Carrigaline. Well done to all involved for such a brilliant summer league campaign.

Fe 16 B2 Hurling League vs Raonuithe Na Gael Wed Aug 9th

Played in Trabeg this was the boy’s last league game of the year. They started very brightly and soon were 1-03 to no score ahead. But Raonuithe battled back into the game and by the midpoint of the first half it was level at 1-06 for Nemo to 2-03 for Raonuithe, A burst of scoring just before half time by the Nemo forwards put an unfair gloss on the half time score. It was 3-11 to 3-04 at the short whistle for Nemo. The start of the second half was nip and tuck with some great scores from both sets of forwards. But as the game wore on Raonuithe tired and Nemo started to push up and get on top in midfield. Great scores from Alan Barry, Jack Elwood, Patrick Campbell and Brian Joyce meant that Nemo pulled away in the end. But up to the 45th minute it was a very even contest. Final score was 5-24 to 4-08 for Nemo. Thus ends their league campaign with a record of played 6 games, won 3 and lost 3. Next up is their championship meeting with Kiltha Og on Aug 22nd.

Minor Football Challenge vs Canovee Thurs Aug 10th

The minor footballers had a very good work out against a game and lively Canovee outfit last Thursday. The sides were well matched but Nemo had the better forwards. Nemo took more of their chances and ended up with a comfortable winning margin. It was a very good performance by the Nemo panel. We thank Canovee for travelling in and providing the challenge.

Girls Fe 13 Football League vs Douglas Thurs Aug 10th

Played in Moneygourney this was a very close affair. Douglas dominated the first half but didn’t have a huge lead at the break as they missed some good scoring chances. On the resumption Nemo started to get on top. They really started to play well and they had several chances to at least salvage a draw. But it was not to be and Douglas finished up winning on a margin of 4-02 to 2-05. Good performance by the Nemo girls who will regret some late misses.

Fe 8 Football Blitz @ Eire Og Sat Aug 12th

The Fe 8 boys travelled to Eire Og to continue their blitz program last Saturday. They played selections from Aghada, Ballincollig and Macroom. All the games were very competitive with Ballincollig being the best team the boys faced. Despite a downpour of rain midway through the blitz the boys had a great time. They won two of their games and lost one. The boys had a great time and we thank the hosts Eire Og for looking after everyone so well.

Minor Football Challenge vs Naas Sun Aug 13th

The minor footballers had a unique excursion last Sunday. They travelled to Croke Park to see the All Ireland semifinal. On the way they stopped off in Nass for a football challenge. Naas were very good and provided a stern test for the boys. The first half was very even with the side’s level at the break. In the second half Nemo used their extended panel and Naas took over toward the end. All the Nemo boys played in what was a very enjoyable game. Naas won in the end on a score line of 1-16 to 0-13. The boys continued on to Croker to watch the hurling and had a great day out. Many thanks to our hosts Naas for looking after us so well.
