Girls Fe 16 Football League SF vs Donoughmore Tues Apr 24th

The Fe 16 girls had their final league group game last week at home to Donoughmore. At stake for Nemo was a league semi-final spot. With this in mind the girls were very focussed from the start. They created some great goal scoring chances and the forwards duly obliged. This was the big difference between the sides. The Nemo forwards were far more clinical in front of goal. The final score was 7-06 to 1-08 and the girls can now look forward to the semi-final.

Fe 12 Hurling League vs Eire Og Wed Apr 25th

The Fe 12 hurlers entertained Eire Og last week in a highly entertaining game in Trabeg. The visitors started the brighter and by half time they had a 6 point lead. But the Nemo boys never gave up and they battled back into the game in the second half. They really showed great determination and they were rewarded with a one point win. Final score was 3-06 to 2-08.

Girls Fe 12 A Football League vs Eire Og Thur Apr 26th

The Fe 12 girls hosted Eire Og in the football league last week. This was a game that the girls dominated from start to finish. They were clinical in front of goal and scored some really well worked goals. Final score was 8-08 to 2-05 for Nemo.

Girls Fe 14 D Football League vs Eire Og Fri Apr 27th

This was the final group league game for the Fe 14 girl’s D football team. It was a highly entertaining game with the lead exchanging sides many times. At half time Nemo were 4 points behind. They played some great football in the second half and it looked like they were going to get the points as they held a 2 point lead going into the final minute. But this is a dangerous lead to have and Eire Og struck for a late goal to steal the points. Well done to both teams for providing such a high degree of entertainment. Final score was 4-06 to 5-04. The Nemo girls have done enough to earn a league semi-final spot and they have that to look forward to in a few weeks.

Fe 15 Football Challenge vs Clonakilty Fri Apr 27th

The Fe 15 boys travelled to Clonakilty for a challenge game last Friday evening. They were understrength and so the result was never really in doubt. Clonakilty played some lovely football to win handily. But the exercise was worthwhile for the Nemo boys who learned a lot from the experience and enjoyed the trip to Clonakilty.

Fe 8 Mini Football Blitz @ St Michaels Sat Apr 28th

The Fe 8 boys took part in a min football blitz in St Michaels last week. They only had 14 players as many boys had communion that weekend. They divided into 2 two teams and they played selections from Delaneys, Mayfield, the Barrs and St Michaels. In total they played 6 games winning 4, drawing one and loosing 1. The boys had a great time. Many thanks to St Michaels for organising the blitz.

Fe 9 Football League vs Douglas 2 Sat Apr 28th

The Fe 9 Boys travelled to Garryduff Astros for their league game with Douglas last week. Both clubs were understrength over communions but they still had enough players for 2 teams each. The Nemo boys enjoyed the occasion and they won all their games.

Fe 11 John Kerins Football Tournament Qualifiers Sat Apr 28th

The Fe 11 boys had the annual John Kerins qualifiers last Saturday morning in Trabeg. They started with a game against Bishopstown. This was an excellent game with a high degree of skill on offer from both teams. In the end Nemo just about won on a score line of 2-05 to 3-01. Next up was Clonakilty. The Nemo boys were in their stride at this stage and they won this comfortably. With two wins they were assured a place in the finals day. Their last game was against Fermoy and in a very entertaining game the Nemo boys just lost by a few points. All the Nemo boys that togged out played and they are now looking forward to the finals day in Pairc Ui Rinn in June.

Fe 12 Hurling League vs Courcey Rovers Sat Apr 28th

After the highs of the great win over Eire Og earlier in the week Fe 12 hurlers were brought down to earth by a classy Courceys side in Ballinspittle. The Courcey’s defence in particular was excellent and they made the Nemo boys work for every shot. In the end the Courcey’s boy’s first touch and skill was too much for the Nemo boys. Courcey’s won well but the Nemo boys will learn from the experience.

Fe 16 B2 Hurling League vs Castlelyons Sat Apr 28th

This was the last hurling game for the Fe 16 boys before the exam break. They started very slowly and with the home side in fine scoring form they found themselves training heavily early on. The Castlelyons midfield and centre forward were particularly good hurlers and Nemo just didn’t have any one to match their skill and athleticism. The second half saw Nemo try much harder and indeed they got a few scores to make the score line more respectable. But the result was never in doubt after the fine first half display by the home team. The Nemo boys will regroup after the exams.

Girls Fe 14 Football Feile Finals at Trabeg Sun Apr 29th

The Fe 14 girls qualified for the regional Feile finals last weekend. The finals were played in Trabeg. Unfortunately Nemo were understrength over a clash with a school’s basketball final. But the Nemo girls performed very well. They won their first two games against Abhainn Dalla and Clonakilty. In a tough third encounter they drew with Youghal. This meant they qualified for the semi-final were they played Glanmire. There was no score at half time but in the second half the Nemo girls started to tire and Glanmire got in for a few handy points to win in the end on a score line of 0-04 to 0-01. The Nemo mentors were delighted with the girl’s performance especially as they were so understrength on the day. Well done to all involved for a great effort.

Fe 18 Camogie League vs Kilworth Sun Apr 29th

The Fe 18 camogie team travelled to Kilworth for a league encounter last Sunday. They played some excellent camogie and got some lovely scores. Kilworth were never able to get close to Nemo on the score board. In the end the girls recorded a well-deserved 5-07 to 2-00 win.

Fe 14 Football Challenge vs Carrigaline Sun Apr 29th

The Fe 14 boys continued their preparation for feile with a very useful challenge game away to Carrigaline. The boys played very well and won easily. They experimented with players in various positions with one eye on Feile. The boys and the team’s mentors learned a lot from the experience. Many thanks to Carrigaline for the challenge.

Girls Fe 14 A Football League vs St Vals Weds May 2nd

The Fe 14 girls entertained St Vals last week in a league game. This was a very low scoring affair with defences on top. However, the Nemo girls were a little sharper in front of the goal and in the end they won on a score line of 2-03 to 0-01.

Fe 18 C3 Football League vs Glanmire Wed May 2nd

The Fe 18 C3 team continued their excellent form in the league with an away win in Glanmire last week. They played some excellent football and were always in control. Of note was the excellent long range point kicking. In the end the score was 2-16 to 0-10 for the Nemo boys.

Fe 14 Camogie League vs Enisskeane Thurs May 3rd

The Fe 14 camogie girls had a home tie with Enisskeane last week. They played very well in the first half with good ground hurling. The teams were level at half time. But Enisskeane upped the tempo in the second half and with the better hurlers they tacked on some lovely scores to record a comfortable win in the end.

Girls Fe 12 Football Challenge vs Bandon Sat May 5th

The Fe 12 girls entertained Bandon last Saturday in a lively challenge game. Both clubs had enough players for two teams. It was a very close affair with Nemo just about shading it. Good workout for the girls and we thank Bandon for the challenge.

Feile Peil Qualifiers Sat May 5th

The Fe 14 footballers travelled to St Michaels for their group 3 premier 1 Feile qualifiers last Saturday. First up for the boys was Glenville. Their nerves were settled with an early brace of goals. They played very well and scored some great goals to win 7-02 to 0-02. Next up was Ballincollig. This was a much closer affair but the Nemo boys were in their stride at this stage and they ran out winners by 2-03 to 1-01. Their penultimate game was against the home team St Michaels. Another close affair but Nemo had too much for their opponents and won 2-05 to 1-02. Their final game was against Valley Rovers and this was a winner takes all game. Nemo started brightly and soon were 3 points ahead. But in their very first attack, Valley Rovers worked the ball up the field to score a peach of a goal. They soon added a point from the kick out. Nemo rallied before half time and had several goal chances, hitting the post on one occasion. They did get another point to leave the sides deadlocked at the break. In the second half Nemo dominated and eventually got through for the goals that ultimately decided the tie. In the end despite a valiant effort by Valley Rovers Nemo prevailed on a score line of 2-05 to 1-01.

Feile Peil Premier Semi Final Mon May 7th

The Fe 14 footballers had qualified for the premier Feile Peil semi-final on Saturday where they produced arguably their best football of the year. In the semi they met the home side St Finbarrs. The Barrs were in a very determined mood and started very brightly. At half time Nemo had a mountain to climb trailing by 8 points. They did better in the second half but couldn’t reproduce the form they showed in the qualifiers. In the end St Finbarrs ran out 9 point winners. The Barrs played really well and fully deserved their final spot. The final was played later that day against Douglas. Douglas won and we congratulate them and wish them the best when representing Cork in the National Feile later this year. As to the Nemo team – they played some excellent football and it’s evident that the team has developed over the course of the year. They will have better days we are sure. Well done to all involved.

Fe 10 Football League vs Middleton Sun May 6th

The Fe 10 boys played Middleton away at the weekend. The boys did really well, some great football across 3 pitches on a warm sunny morning. There was some top class passing and shooting. Both clubs had enough for 3 teams. One game ended in a draw and Nemo just about came out on top in the other two.

Fe 11 Football League vs Bandon Mon May 7th

The Fe 11 boys turned out in force for their league game against Bandon on Bank Holiday Monday. 34 Nemo boys participated. Two teams were formed. Nemo dubh lost narrowly by a couple of points while Nemo Glas didn’t fare as well. Overall honours went to the visitors. Good football from the Nemo boys and most pleasing was the high turnout especially on a bank holiday.

Fe 16 Football Challenge vs Erins Own Mon May 7th

The Fe 16s wrapped up for the exam break with a good challenge game against Erins Own in Trabeg on the bank holiday Monday. It was an opportunity for the wider panel to get game time. They started slowly and were soon 2-01 to no score down. But they steadied and settled into the game well. They started to score some lovely points and added a goal to go in at half time a few points ahead. They continued their good form in the second half and with the addition of another goal they were soon 10 points to the good. Erins Own didn’t give up and rallied late in the game with another goal and some well worked points. Final score was 2-16 to 3-07 for Nemo. A good test before the break. Girls Fe 16 A Football League SF vs Naomh Aban Tues May 8th

The Fe 16 girls played their league semi-final against rivals Naomh Aban Tuesday night in Nemo. The Nemo girls played very well in the first half and led by a point at half time. But in the second half the visitors just took over. Nemo couldn’t stay with them and they were well out scored in the second half. Final score was 3-11 to 3-04 to Naomh Aban. Well done to the Nemo girls for getting to the semi-final and we wish Naomh Aban the best of luck in the final.

Girls Fe 14 D Football League SF vs Douglas Tues May 8th

The Fe 14 girl’s D team played their league semi-final against Douglas in Trabeg last Tuesday evening. The Nemo girls have been playing well all year and they continued in this vein on the night. They played some lovely football and won well in the end. Final score was 6-04 to 2-03. The girls have a league final to look forward to now and we wish them the best in their efforts.

Fe 12 G1 Football Challenge vs Carrigaline Tues May 8th

The Fe 12 boys travelled to Carrigaline for a league game this week. The boys have been playing very well and they continued this form on the night. They dominated in most positions and played a good brand of passing and attacking football. But this was not translated into dominance on the score board. Eventually they found their scoring form and they registered some lovely points during the game and chipped in with 2 well worked goals. Carrigaline never gave up and made the Nemo boys work for their win. Final score was 2-10 to 0-08.

Fe 18 Non Exam Football League vs Bishopstown  Wed May 9th

The minor boys started their non-exam league campaign this Wednesday with a home tie against Bishopstown. The played against the wind in the first half and this was to prove a deciding factor. The Nemo backs were very tenacious and they restricted the visitors to long range point opportunities. At half time they trailed by just 2 points on a score line of 0-05 to 0-03. In the second half they started brightly and soon they were back level. Bishopstown rallied and scored two nice points to restore their half time lead. But from there to the end the game belonged to Nemo as they outscored their opponents 7 points to no score. Bishopstown did have chances but they kicked a number of wides to leave Nemo off the hook. In the end Nemo recorded a 0-12 to 0-07 point win. A good start to the non-exam league which will continue over the next 4 weeks.
