Girls Fe 11 Summer League Final vs Bishopstown Tue Aug 28th

The Fe 11 girls completed their summer league late last month. They reached the final which was a great achievement. The game was played in Trabeg against a very strong Bishopstown team. The visitors dominated the opening half and were well ahead by half time. In the second half the Nemo girls rallied and made a game of it. They played very well in the second period but they had given themselves too much of a mountain to climb. In the end they lost on a score line of 3-07 to 7-05. Overall it was a very successful summer campaign where the girls gained valuable football experience.


Fe 13 C3 Football League vs Carrigaline Tues Aug 28th 

The Fe 13 boys continued their league campaign with a tricky away tie to Carrigaline last month. The home team had some excellent forwards on show and the Nemo defence found them hard to handle. Despite this Nemo were very game throughout and put up a credible score and performance. In the end they lost on a final score of 4-04 to 8-05.


Fe 14 P1 Football Championship vs Mallow Tues Aug 28th 

The Fe 14 boys travelled to Mallow for their first round championship game last month. The home team were excellent in the first half. In particular they dominated in midfield. Nemo made some tactical changes at half time and they soon got themselves back into the game. They were only two points behind when they conceded two somewhat soft goals. Time ran out for them to pull it back and Mallow had a well-deserved 4-11 to 3-07 win. Nemo now have the challenge cup to look forward to. We wish Mallow the best of luck in the rest of the championship.


Fe 18 P1 Football Championship vs Douglas Tues Aug 28th 

Nemo faced neighbours Douglas in the quarter final of the P1 football championship late last month. The game was played in Delaney’s. The first half exchanges were fierce and tight as to be expected. But Nemo just about shaded the first half and went in at half time 0-06 to 0-03 ahead. Particularly impressive was the hard work of the Nemo defence who were immense on the night. They continued their good form in the second half and in a real team effort they saw off their rivals on a score line of 2-12 to 1-08. It was a well-deserved victory and they can now look forward to the semi-final against Sam Maguire’s later in September.


Fe 9 Football League vs Lisgoold Weds Aug 29th 

The Fe 9 footballers entertained Lisgoold last month. Both clubs had enough players for two teams. Two well contested go-games were played with Nemo just about shading both. The boys demonstrated the skills they have been learning on Saturday morning’s and enjoyed the occasion.


Fe 11 Hurling League vs Cobh Thurs Aug 30th

The Fe 11 hurlers entertained Cobh in the league recently. Two 11 aside games were played. Both contests were close affairs with very little to separate the teams for heart and determination. But Cobh had the more stylish hurlers and this told in the end on the score board. Cobh won both games. But it was a very good performance by the Nemo boys who played very well on the night.


Fe 14 C3 Football League vs Valley Rovers Fri Aug 31st

The Fe 14 C3 team entertained Valley Rovers in the league last month. This was a very entertaining game of football with never more than a kick of a ball between the teams. The sides were level on at least 6 occasions. Both teams played with great heart and determination and in the end a draw was a deserved result. Final score was 3-09 to 4-06.


Fe 7 Football Blitz Sat Sep 1st

The Fe 7 boys hosted a football blitz on the first Saturday of the month. Teams from St Finbarrs and Bishopstown took part. Nemo had excellent numbers and were able to field 6 teams of 7 aside. The boys had a great time and enjoyed the morning’s competition. Well done to all involved in organising the event.


Fe 9 Football League vs Bandon Sat Sep 1st

The Fe 9 boys travelled to Bandon for a football league game on the 1st. Nemo had 25 boys participating. Two teams were formed and the boys played some excellent football. They won both games and really enjoyed the trip away.


Fe 11 Football League vs Mallow Sat Sep 1st

The Fe 11 footballers travelled in force Mallow for a league game at the start of the month. 40 Nemo boys participated. Each club formed two teams and two well contested games were played. Nemo were that little bit stronger in both games and won. The boys had a great trip and it was fantastic to see the numbers turn out for the games.


Fe 12 Hurling League vs Bandon Sat Sep 1st

The Fe 12 hurlers entertained Bandon in the league on the first Saturday of the month. This was a very close affair with never more than a score between the teams. There was some excellent passages of hurling with the ball flying up and down the pitch. In the end the Nemo boys recorded a well-deserved one point win on a final score of 3-03 to 3-02. Well done to both teams for the great hurling they produced on the day.


Fe 16 P1 Football League vs Inisscarra Sat Sep 1st

The Fe 16 boys travelled to Ballyanly for their league encounter with Inisscarra earlier this month. On a very warm day this was a real see-saw game. Inisscarra started very well and looked like they would dominate. But Nemo got into the game and with full forward Patrick Campbell in great form they hit the lead before half time. At half time they led 4-08 to 3-04. Things soon got better for Nemo as they scored another goal just after half time. But inexplicably they faded out of the game for the next 20 minutes. Inisscarra took full advantage and rattled off score after score to soon take the lead. Nemo started to panic and went for goals when easy points were on offer. This was to prove decisive and in the end Inisscarra scored two late goals to seal what looked like an unlikely win early in the second half. Final score was 8-10 to 5-12 to the home team.


Fe 10 Camogie vs Inisscarra Sun Sep 2nd

The Fe 10 camogie team travelled to Inisscarra for a league game earlier this month. 18 Nemo girls participated and two games were played. The girls competed very well and showed off all the skills they have been learning at the Tuesday evening training sessions. No scores were kept and a draw was declared.


Girls Fe 18 Football League vs Douglas Mon Sep 3rd

The Fe 18 girl’s football team had a league outing against near neighbours Douglas in Trabeg earlier this month. This was a very entertaining game with the lead exchanging hands several times early on. Both teams had periods of dominance but Douglas took more of the chances that came their way during their purple patches. In the end the visitors had a deserved 3-14 to 1-11 win.

 

Fe 18 C3 Football League vs Valley Rovers Thurs Sep 6th

The Fe 18 C3 team continued their league campaign with a well contested match against Valley Rovers earlier this month in Trabeg. Initially the sides traded scores regularly. But just before half time Nemo hit a purple patch and scored a goal and a few points to lead by 6 at the break. They never lost the lead in the second half and continued to build on it with well taken points. Valley did rally late on and scored a well-deserved consolation goal. Final score was 1-14 to 1-06 for Nemo.


Fe 7 Football Blitz Sat Sep 8th

The Fe 7 boys took part in a football blitz in Ballincollig recently. Nemo had more than 30 participants and they played selections from local clubs in the region. The boys had a great time and enjoyed the occasion.


Fe 8 Regional Hurling Blitz Sat Sep 8th

The Fe 8 boys travelled to the Glen for a recent regional hurling blitz. Over 20 Nemo boys participated and they had a great time testing their skills against local clubs like Na Piarsaigh and the Glen. They competed well and enjoyed the occasion.


Fe 10 & 11 Hurling League Sat Sep 8th

The Fe 10 & 11 boys continued in their hurling leagues with home games against Killavullen and Killeagh respectively on Saturday the 8th. At both age groups two teams were formed and they boys acquitted themselves very well. Their skills continue to develop and games like these will bring them on loads.  


Girls Fe 11 Football Challenge vs Listowel Sat Sep 8th

The Fe 11 girls entertained visitors from Listowel earlier this month. They played a number of football challenge games and acquitted themselves very well. Listowel were a pleasure to host and we hope to visit them soon. Well done to all involved.


Fe 12 Hurling League vs Ballygiblin Sat Sep 8th

The Fe 12 boys travelled to Ballygiblin for an excellent hurling game earlier this month. There was never more than a puck of a ball between the teams and the exchanges were tough and hard. The sides were level at half time. A great goal by Nemo early in the second half pushed the boys ahead. But the home team were dogged and managed to score two quick goals to go back into the lead. A brace of late points by Nemo brought the score down to a one point game but they just ran out of time trying to find an equalizer. Final score was 3-02 to 2-04 for the home side. But an excellent performance by the Nemo hurlers.


Fe 13 Football Tournament in Austin Stacks Sat Sep 8th

The Fe 13 boys travelled to Tralee earlier this month for the annual Lee Strand Austin Stacks football tournament. 27 Nemo boys participated.  All the Nemo games were played on the Saturday with all the players and mentors enjoying the football.  Nemo started with a good win over Na Gael 4-10 to 0-3. Then they lost to Oranmore by 2-5 to 1-7 after a goal for Oranmore just at the final whistle. In their final group game they lost narrowly to Naas. This meant they qualified for the plate competition. Here they defeated Kerin’s O’Rahilly in the semi-final and Ennistymon in the final to bring the plate back to Nemo. After the football the boys and mentors had an evening at the dogs followed on Sunday by a fun trip to the Aqua dome. The boys had a great weekend and we wish to thank our hosts Austin Stacks for their hospitality over the weekend.


Girls Fe 16 B Football League Final vs Naomh Fionnbarra Sat Sep 8th

The Fe 16 girls qualified for the league final earlier this month where they played Naomh Fionnbarra in Ballincollig. This was a day when the girls really played some excellent football. They combined well and their accuracy was excellent. Add to this their tough defence and there was only ever going to be one winner. In the end they ran out comfortable 4-11 to 1-04 winners. Well done to all involved in what was a very successful and enjoyable campaign for the girls.


Fe 16 Football Challenge vs Erins Own Sun Sep 9th

The Fe 16 boys had a good challenge game against Erins Own last week. They were was never more than a kick of a ball between the teams with some excellent football played by two game teams. Nemo took the opportunity to experiment and it was a very useful exercise in that regard. In the end Erins Own won on a score line of 3-12 to 2.14. Many thanks to them for travelling to Trabeg for the game.


Fe 15 Football Challenge vs Carrigaline Weds Sep 12th

The Fe 15 footballers travelled to Carrigaline for a football challenge earlier this month. They dominated the first half and were well ahead early in the second half. But Carrigaline rallied and took over in midfield. Eventually the scores came for them and they ran out winners by a few points. An excellent exercise for the Nemo boys and we thank Carrigaline for hosting the game.


Girls Fe 14 A Football League vs Douglas Weds Sep 12th

The Fe 14 girls hosted near neighbours Douglas in a very entertaining football league game last week. There was never more than a few points between the sides and the lead exchanged hands several times. The teams were level at 1-03 a piece at half time. The second half continued in the same vein as the first with never much between the sides. With Nemo two points behind and a minute on the clock a goal was needed and that they duly provided after some great passing. In the end a hard fought 3-06 to 2-07 win for the Nemo girls. Well done to both teams on the high quality of football played.


Fe 9 Hurling League vs Ballincollig Fri Sep 14th

The Fe 9 hurlers played Ballincollig in the league in Trabeg recently. Nemo had enough players for 3 8-aside teams. The Nemo boys competed well but Ballincollig were a little bit ahead in their hurling development. This told on the score board and Ballincollig won the tie. But the Nemo mentors were delighted with the effort shown by their charges.


Fe 14 Camogie League vs Passage Fri Sep 14th

The Fe 14 camogie team continued their league campaign with a home tie against Passage last week. In a low scoring affair the Nemo girls managed to come out on top on a score line of 1-03 to 0-01. Of note was the excellent defending by the Nemo girls. They remain unbeaten in their league to date. Well done girls.


Fe 8 Football Blitz Sat Sep 15th

The Fe 8 boys hosted a football blitz last Saturday. 26 Nemo boys participated and they played selections from Carrignavaar and Whites Cross. They played really well and came out on top in most games. Many thanks to our visitors on the day.


Fe 10 Camogie Blitz Sat Sep 15th

The Fe 10 camogie team travelled to Bishopstown for a blitz last Saturday. They played selections from Bishopstown, Mitchelstown, Crosshaven and Inisscarra. They girls matched their opponents for skill and determination and enjoyed the day’s hurling. Many thanks to Bishopstown for hosting the event.


Fe 11 Football Tournament @ Glanmire Sat Sep 15th

The Fe 11 boys took part in the annual Michael Crowley cup in Glanmire last Saturday. They played selections from Austin Stacks, Bishopstown and Glanmire. They were not successful in the tournament but they had a great time and really enjoyed playing the games. Many thanks to Glanmire for hosting the event.


Fe 9 Football Tournament @ St Finbarr’s Sat Sep 15th

The Fe 9 boys took part in the annual Canty cup in St Finbarrs last Saturday. In their group they played Youghal, Kilmacud Crokes and Austin Stacks. Each club provided two even teams and aggregate scores were used to decide the games. In the end Nemo came out on top in the group. The final was against the hosts St Finbarrs and in traditional Nemo v Barrs games this one went down to the wire. In the end Nemo won in extra time to bring the cup home to Trabeg. Well done to the Nemo boys and well done to our generous hosts St Finbarrs on a very well organized tournament.


Fe 14 Hurling Championship vs Kanturk Sat Sep 15th

The Fe 14 hurlers qualified for the county semi-final vs Kanturk having won the East B championship recently. The game was played in Ballyanly and the Nemo boys were excellent again. They were well ahead at half time but Kanturk rallied early in the second half and they managed to get it back to a few points. But Nemo pulled away in the end to record a comprehensive 2-14 to 2-06 win. They now face St Colmans in the county final this Saturday coming.


Fe 16 P1 Football League vs Carrigaline Sat Sep 15th

The Fe 16 footballers travelled to Carrigaline for their penultimate league game last Saturday. They played with the elements in the first half and were doing well at 6 points to 4 up before Carrigaline struck for a goal. A high lob into the goalmouth was not dealt with and the home side pounced for the goal. It was a lead they were never to relinquish. Nemo had plenty of chances to draw level in the first half but they kicked some wides and dropped a number of balls short into the keeper’s hands. The Nemo custodian Eoin McDaid, also saved a penalty to keep Nemo in the game. At half time the score stood at 0-07 to 1-06 to Carrigaline. On the resumption Carrigaline took over and kicked four unanswered points. Nemo struck for a great goal from Robert Dillon but straight away Carrigaline went down the field and scored a goal of their own to cancel out the Nemo effort. From there to the finish Carrigaline controlled the game and ran out worthy winners on a score line of 2-17 to 2-10.


Fe 16 Camogie Challenge vs Bishopstown Sat Sep 15th

The Fe 16 camogie team hosted Bishopstown in an entertaining challenge in Trabeg last Saturday. This was a close game with never more than a score or two between the teams. Defences were on top for both teams. In the end the Nemo girls got a late goal to seal a well-deserved win on a score line of 2-04 to 1-03. A good exercise for both teams and we thank Bishopstown for providing the challenge.


Fe 12 P1 Football League vs Valley Rovers Sun Sep 16th

The Fe 12 boys continued their league campaign with a home tie against Valley Rovers last Sunday. The match was an entertaining and free flowing affair. The Nemo forwards were very sharp in front of goal and they maximised any chances that came their way. That was the difference between the teams and Nemo ran out winners on a final score of 3-07 to 1-07.


Fe 8 Camogie Blitz @ Whites Cross Sun Sep 16th

The Fe 8 camogie team headed to Whites Cross for a blitz last Sunday morning. 18 Nemo girls participated. They formed two teams and they played selections from Brian Dillons, Barryroe and Ballinhassig. Each team had 3 games and they were competitive in all their games. Many thanks to Whitescross for hosting the event.


Fe 16 C3 Football League vs Valley Rovers Mon Sep 17th

The Fe 16 C3 team travelled to Brinny for a league game last Monday night. On a wet and miserable night Nemo were understrength and struggled to get into the game. An early goal for Valley Rovers was soon added to by a number of points. But Nemo rallied and a great point by full forward James Murphy got them into the game. At half time the score was 1-03 to 0-03 for the visitors. The weather deteriorated as the second half progressed and this made play for both teams hard. Nemo did draw level with a goal from half forward Dylan Twomey but from there to the end all the scores came from Valley as the Nemo forwards struggled to cope with the elements. A late goal for Valley sealed the points for them as the light started to fade. Final score was 2-07 to 1-03 for the home team.


Fe 18 P1 Football League vs Glanmire Mon Sep 17th

The minor footballers travelled to Sallybrook for their league encounter with Glanmire last Monday night. The weather dictated the proceedings and some of the play was very scrappy as a result. Despite this Nemo proved to be the better team and put together some good moves that ended in some great scores. In the end they had a comfortable win 6-15 to 1-08.


Girls Fe 18 Football League vs St Vals Mon Sep 17th

The minor girls entertained St Vals in the league last Monday night. On a horrible night for football both teams tried very hard. St Vals were the more accomplished team on the night and dealt with the stormy conditions better than Nemo did. In the end they had a comfortable 3-13 to 1-06 win over the Nemo girls. But Nemo did try very hard and were a little unlucky not to have a few more scores on the board but for excellent defending by St Vals.
