Fe 16 C Camogie League vs Tracton Tues Apr 4th
Played in Trabeg this was a game where defenses were well on top. The exchanges were tough and the there was never more than a few scores between the teams. Nemo missed a lot of gilt edge goal chances. Tracton were more clinical when they got their chances. In the end Nemo lost 2-03 to 0-03. But it was a good performance from the girls and the Nemo mentors were well pleased with the effort they gave.
Fe 11 Hurling League vs Bandon Sat Apr 8th
The Fe 11 boys made the journey to Bandon for an entertaining hurling league encounter. Nemo had 22 boys and two games were played. They won one game and lost one game. Honours even. The boys hurled very well and showed a big improvement from their first league outing a few weeks ago. Overall a very good performance.
Fe 10 Hurling League vs Fr O’Neills Sat Apr 8th
Played away the Fe 10 hurlers had a tough outing against a very skillful Fr O’Neills team. They matched their opponents for effort but the O’Neills boys had the better stick work. A good outing and performance but in the end they lost. They will learn from the experience.
Fe 9 Hurling League vs Mallow Sat Apr 8th
The Fe 9 boys entertained Mallow in their hurling league last weekend. Nemo had over 30 players. They played two games and won both. The games were very competitive and close. The Nemo coaches were delighted with how the boys performed.
Fe 8 Hurling Blitz Sat Apr 8th
The Fe 8 boys travelled to Ballygarvan for a very entertaining hurling blitz last week. They played selections from Bishopstown, Kinsale, Sliabh Rua and Balinora. In total they played 9 games winning 7. Balinora were the best side they played. Overall it was an excellent outing for the boys and shows they can compete with the other hurling clubs in the county. Many thanks to Ballygarvan for hosting the blitz.
Girls Fe 16 A Football League vs St Vals Sun Apr 9th
Played in Cloughduv the girls had a tough outing against an excellent St Vals selection. The first half was one way traffic with St Vals dominant all over the field. The half time score was 3-07 to 0-02 to ST Vals. In eth second half Nemo improved and took the game to St Vals. However they left themselves a mountain to climb. They tried very hard but in the end lost on a score line of 4-09 to 0-08.
Fe 12 Seandun Camogie Blitz Sun Apr 9th
Played at the Glen Resource Center the girls played selections from St Vincents, and Bishopstown. In total they played 3 games and won all three. It was an excellent outing for the girls who played very well. Many thanks to the Glen for hosting the event.
Girls Fe 12 Football Challenge vs Carrigaline Sun Apr 9th
Played in Trabeg the girls played out a very entertaining football challenge with Carrigaline last weekend. They played 3 twenty minute sections and the full panel got game time. They lost 2-06 to 1-05 but played very well. It was an excellent work out for the team and many thanks to Carrigaline for providing the challenge.
Girls Fe 16 B2 Football League vs Ballyphehane Mon Apr 11th
Played away the girls had a very entertaining league game against top of the table Ballyphehane last week. They were 1-06 to 2-02 down at half time after playing some great football in the first half. However in the second half Ballyphehane took over. Nemo had no answer but kept trying right to the end. In the end the score was 5-15 to 5-04 for Ballyphehane. They are a fine side and it was no disgrace for the Nemo girls to lose to them.
Fe 18 C3 Football League vs Douglas Mon Apr 11th
Played in Trabeg the boys played some excellent football in the first half. They were in control all over the field and scored at will. At half time the score was 1-10 to 0-02 for Nemo. However, Douglas made a right fight of it in the second half. They scored 4 goals in a row to really put the game in the melting pot. In the end though Nemo had just about enough to win out. Final score was 2-16 to 4-06 for Nemo.
Girls Fe 14 A Football League vs Naomh Aban Tues Apr 11th
Played in Trabeg the Fe 14 girls continued their unbeaten run this season with a comprehensive win over rivals Naomh Aban. This was a game that was never in any doubt as Nemo dominated from start to finish. They played some great attacking football and won comfortably.
Fe 14 C3 Football League vs St Finbarr’s Thurs Apr 13th
The Fe 14 boys entertained local rival St Finbarr’s last week for an exciting C3 football encounter. Both sides played good attractive attacking football. The Nemo boys were that bit sharper in front of goal and won out on a final score of 5-03 to 3-03. Well done to both teams for the entertainment they provided.
Girls Fe 14 Feile Peil Qualifier Mon Apr 16th
Nemo qualified for the County Feile Finals on the 1st of May when they remained unbeaten in their qualifying campaign on Easter Monday in Carrigaline. First game up for Nemo was against a young Passage team and after a low scoring first half Nemo pulled away in the second half to record their first victory of the day. Next up for Nemo was a game against Ballinora which Nemo again started slowly but managed to pull away in the second half to record their second victory. The final group game for Nemo was against Eire Og and this proved to be their toughest game of the day but again the girls dug deep to run out 2-00 to 0-00 winners. The last action of the day for the girls was the play off against Carrigaline to see who went through the County finals and the girls held the nerve to progress on a score line of 0-07 to 0-01. A huge thanks to Carrigaline for hosting the qualifier and the organisation was superb on the day. Best of luck to the Nemo girls in the final.
Fe 12 All Ireland Camogie Blitz Croke Park Mon Apr 16th
The Fe 12 girls had a great trip to Croke Park on Easter Monday for a very entertaining camogie blitz. They had a great time. They played selections from Clare, Kilkenny, Derry and Limerick. The girls were competitive in all games and certainly represented Cork very well indeed. The day out in Dublin and playing in HQ was the highlight and the girls had a brilliant time. Well done to all involved in this excursion.
Fe 16 B2 Hurling League vs Crosshaven Tues Apr 17th
The Fe 16 hurlers had their first league outing of the year away to Crosshaven. It was an understrength Nemo outfit and soon Crosshaven got on top. The score was 0-10 to 0-02 coming up to half time until Crosshaven scored a fortuitous goal to leave Nemo with a mountain to climb in the second half. Both Nemo scores in the first half came from the industrious center forward Brian Joyce. Nemo rallied well in the second half and brace of goals from lively forward Patrick Campbell brought them to within five points of the opposition. That was as close as they got. Another lucky goal for Crosshaven killed the game as a contest. Nemo kept trying and a great goal from center back Colin Twohig put a better gloss on the score line. Final score was 2-16 to 3-05 for Crosshaven.
Fe 12 P2 Hurling League vs Mallow Tues Apr 17th
The Fe 12 hurlers had a tough away encounter to Mallow this week. The home teams stick work was that bit better than Nemo’s and though the Nemo boys tried very hard it was not going to their night. In the end Mallow had a deserved and comfortable win. The experience will stand to the Nemo boys as they progress through their league.
