The Fe 16 girls entertained north side rivals Brian Dillon’s in a camogie league game last week. The girls started slowly and Brian Dillon’s took advantage to put a few points on the board. At half time the girls were a few points behind. Early in the second half Dillon’s scored a good goal and Nemo never looked like getting back into the game after this. With the Dillon’s defence in a mean mood the game never turned for the Nemo girls despite their best efforts. Final score was 1-07 to 0-03 for the visitors.

A great way to start the year for Nemo and we thank Ballincollig for providing the challenge.

This was to prove decisive and with the Eire Og defence in great form they closed out the game to win on a score line of 1-12 to 1-03. This is a very good Eire Og team and the Nemo girls did very well to be so competitive for so long. We wish Eire Og well in the final. And well done to the Nemo girls for such a successful league campaign.

Fe 14 P1 Football League vs Bantry Blues Weds May 16th

The Fe 14 P1 team entertained Bantry Blues last week. This was a cracking contest with some excellent forward play from both teams. Bantry started the brighter and were soon 2-01 to 0-00 ahead. But Nemo rallied and soon were back on level terms. Indeed they dominated the game to half time and soon had a healthy lead. But Bantry stormed back in the second half and hit Nemo for some great goals and points. Indeed if their shooting had been more accurate Nemo could have been further behind than just a goal as the game reached its conclusion. With Nemo now starring at defeat they rallied one more time and in a great flowing move scored an excellent goal to tie the teams. They had one more chance to win the game but Bantry snuffed out the attack and the ref blew the final whistle. The final score was 5-08 apiece. Well done to both teams for a brilliant game of attacking football.

Well done to all involved for the high level of entertainment produced on the night.

Fe 18 Non Exam League vs Carrigaline Fri May 18th

The Fe 18 non exam team travelled to Carrigaline last Friday night for their second league game. They started slowly and indeed Carrigaline could have been out of sight at half time but for some great goals from the Nemo forwards and some excellent saves by the Nemo custodian Luke Towler. At half time the score read 4-06 to 4-00 for the home team. It got worse for Nemo after the break and soon they were 4-13 to 4-01 behind. It didn’t look possible that they could get back into the game but incredibly they did. They produced some brilliant attacking football to actually go into the lead as the game headed for its final minutes. This included an excellent goal from Brian Joyce who was excellent on the night in leading the line for Nemo. The score was 7-07 to 4-14 with Nemo ahead! But deservedly the Carrigaline boys managed to work their way up the field and scored two lovely points to salvage a draw.
