Street Leagues Finals Day Sat Jun 9th

The culmination of the 47th annual Street leagues was held last Saturday week. After 8 weeks of games every Friday night the boys and girls were ready for their finals. Finals at Fe 10 and Fe 8 in hurling, football and camogie took place on a scorching hot day in Trabeg. Games for the younger age groups (Fe 6) also took place. Skill levels were very high and some great entertainment was had for the many parents and family who came along to support the children. Trabeg was awash with colour for the day and with over 400 children registered it made for a great family day out. All the children were awarded for their efforts with a commemorative plaque. After the presentations a family BBQ was held with everybody enjoying the good food and weather. A great day was had by everyone. Well done to this year’s organizing committee who worked very hard to make the Street Leagues happen.

Fe 11 Football League vs Eire Og Sun Jun 10th

The Fe 11 boys travelled to Ovens for a football league game last week. Both clubs had enough players for two teams and two very evenly contested games took place. The exchanges were very even and the skill level on view in both games was very high for this age. Nemo Dubh lost narrowly by a goal while Nemo Gals were more fortunate and came out on top by a few scores. With both clubs recording a win it was deemed honours even. Well done to both sets of players for a very entertaining hour of football.

Girls Fe 10 Football Blitz Sun Jun 10th

The Fe 10 girls hosted a football blitz last Sunday week. They played games against selections from Ballinora and Carrigaline. The games were very close and the Nemo girls had to dig deep to come out on top in both. They played very well and had a very enjoyable morning’s football.

Girls Fe 18 Football Challenge vs Valley Rovers Sun Jun 10th

Nemo minor girls had a tough challenge at home to Valley Rovers to start their year off last week. It was a case of knocking off the cobwebs and getting everybody on the panel game time. While they lost the game it was a very worthwhile exercise to gauge where the girls are at this early stage of the season. Many thanks to Valley Rovers for travelling in to Trabeg for the game.

Girls Fe 14 D Football League Final vs Eire Og Sun Jun 10th

The Fe 14 girl’s played their D league final last week in Ballygarvan against rivals Eire Og. The Nemo girls started very brightly and were dominating possession but they were finding it very hard to score against a very resilient Eire Og defence. Midway through the first half they were hit on the counter attack for a few scores and they finished the half a goal down. The second half continued along the same vein as the first with Nemo dominating but failing to take advantage on the score board. The Nemo defence was very good also and stopped some certain points and goals with well-timed blocks. But in the end it was their failure to take advantage of possession that cost them and they lost 2-07 to 1-05. We congratulate Eire Og on their fine win and we commiserate with the Nemo girls who gave their all on the day.

Girls Fe 12 A Football League Final vs Carrigaline Sun Jun 10th

The Fe 12 girls contested their league final last week away to Carrigaline. The girls had done really well to get to the final but they met their match in a very well drilled Carrigali9ne team. The Nemo girls won a lot of possession but were a little wasteful in front of goal, Carrigaline on the other hand were much more economical. In the end their fire power was too much and Nemo lost 5-09 to 2-06. This is the end of the season for this group of players. They did really well to get to the final and we congratulate them on a very fine year’s football.

Fe 12 Football League vs Glanmire Mon Jun 11th

The Fe 12 boys entertained Glanmire in the football league last Monday night. Glanmire were very good and dominated the game for long periods. The Nemo defence was under a lot of pressure but they did really well to keep themselves in the game. But in the end Glanmire got in for some fine goals that were the difference between the team in the end of the day. Final score was 5-06 to 2-04 for Glanmire. A good performance by the Nemo boys who were up against it for long periods but kept plugging away right to the end.

Fe 12 C3 Football League vs St Finbarrs Weds Jun 13th

The Fe 12 C3 team played an exciting game of football last week away to St Finbarrs. In a high scoring game the Nemo boys just about came out on top. Both teams played some excellent football. But the Nemo forwards were a little sharper in front of goal and this told in the end.

Fe 13 Hurling Blitz Weds Jun 13th

The Fe 13 hurlers entered a hurling blitz last week. The games were played in Trabeg. They played Eire Og first and in a very tight game they came out on top 2-01 to 1-02. Next up was Passage. Nemo dominated this game and they outscored their opponents 4-02 to 0-01. It was a good evenings hurling for the boys and they were delighted with the two wins.

Fe 7 Football Blitz Sat Jun 16th

The Fe 7 footballers travelled to Douglas for a football blitz last Saturday. Over 30 boys participated. They played selections from Douglas, St Finbarrs, Bishopstown and Carrigaline. They had a great time and everyone really enjoyed the day out. Many thanks to Douglas for hosting the event.

Fe 8 Football Blitz Sat Jun 16th

The Fe 8 footballers travelled to Delaneys for a blitz last week. 20 players travelled and 3 teams were formed. They played selections from Douglas, Delaney’s, Blarney, St Finbarrs, Inisscarra and Bishopstown. 9 games in total were played. They won 7, drew 1 and lost 1. Overall an excellent morning of football and their mentors were delighted with the skills they showed on the day. Many thanks to Delaney’s for hosting the blitz.

Fe 9 Hurling League vs Na Piarsaigh Sat Jun 16th

The Fe 9 hurlers entertained Na Piarsaigh last week. They had enough for 4 teams and 4 matches were played. Na Piarsaigh had a bit more hurling then the Nemo boys and this gave them the edge in the games. Nemo lost the series 3-1. But they competed very well and their mentors were happy with the effort shown on the day.

Fe 10 Hurling League vs Cobh Sat Jun 16th

The Fe 10 hurlers travelled to Cobh last weekend. They played very well and were on top in the 3 games they played. 22 players travelled and 3 teams were formed.

The Nemo boys won all 3 games and their coach was delighted with their striking out of the hand. A good outing for the Nemo boys.

Fe 11 John Kerins Football Tournament Sat Jun 16th

The Fe11 boys played in the John Kerins Memorial Tournament finals on Sat, June 16th in Pairc Ui Rinn. The boys reached the final and lost out by a goal (1-5 to 0-5) to a very well drilled Eire Og team. Overall it was a very rewarding experience for the boys (and mentors). They defeated Midleton fairly comprehensively in the quarter final. They then had a narrow win over Glanmire to reach the final. It was great to see all 29 of the boys marching behind the pipe band and standing to the national anthem prior to the final throw-in. Thanks to all the parents for their support and to the coaching team. Thanks also to the Gardai for organising the event and well done to Eire Og on their deserved win.

Fe 14 Camogie vs St Fanahans Sat Jun 16th

The Fe 14 camogie team headed to Mitchelstown for their back door championship match against St Fanahans last Saturday. The girls played very well and were in the game for long periods. Ability to convert possession into scores cost them. They defended very well and kept the opposition scoreless for long periods. But in the end the St Fanahans girls got in for the few scores that mattered and they ran out winners by a few points. Well done to the girls on an excellent championship campaign.

Fe 12 Hurling League vs Balinora Sat Jun 16th

The Fe 12 boys played a very exciting league game against Balinora in Trabeg last Saturday. There was never more than a puck of a ball between the teams. Nemo missed a number of gilt edge chances in both halves that probably cost them the game. But Balinora missed a few themselves. In a rip-roaring contest the visitors just got over the line of a final score of 4-07 to 4-05. Well done to both sides for the high level of entertainment provided.

Fe 10 Football League vs Douglas Mon Jun 18th

The Fe 10 boys played Douglas in Trabeg this week in the league. 3 11 aside games were played. Great football with the local rivalry bringing out the best from the players. The games were very even with never more than a kick of a ball between them. Overall Nemo just about shaded it but there was nothing between the sides in terms of skill and determination.

Fe 10 Hurling League vs Sliabh Rua Tues Jun 19th

The Fe 10 boys travelled to Riverstick for their hurling league game this week. Two teams were formed and two games played. Both the Nemo teams did very well and played some very good hurling. They dominated in both games and won well despite the best efforts of the home team.
