Fe 12 C3 Football League vs Ballincollig Weds May 3rd

Played in Trabeg the Fe 12 C3 team had a tough hour against a very good Ballincollig selection. The visitors never looked like losing the game but Nemo could and should have been a lot closer on the score board. Nemo missed a penalty and had numerous shots sent wide or into the keeper’s hands. In the end they lost 6-05 to 1-02 but the score line doesn’t tell the full story of the game.

Girls Fe 14 B2 Football League vs Douglas Thurs May 4th

The Fe 14 girls entertained Douglas last week. This was a very entertaining game of football with both sides playing a good brand of attacking football. The difference between the teams was Douglas were far more clinical in front of goal. In the end the visitors won 4-05 to 1-05. But it was a very good performance from the Nemo girls who competed very well on the night.

Fe 15 C3 Football Challenge vs St Michaels Thurs May 4th

St Michaels kindly invited our C3 Fe 15 footballers down to Mahon for a lively football challenge last week. It was a very windy evening and in many respects this spoilt the game. Nemo dominated early on and were 2 goals up after a few minutes. St Michaels settled and soon had a goal of their own. At half time Nemo led 3-02 to 2-01. In the second half St Michaels used the wind well and picked off some great long rang points. Nemo went for goals when points were on offer. In the end St Michaels had a 3 point win on a score line of 3-11 to 5-02. It was an excellent work out for both teams and we thank St Michaels for hosting.

Fe 12 P2 Hurling League vs Cobh Fri May 5th

Played away an understrength Nemo selection had a tough night against an excellent Cobh team. Cobh were dominant all over the field and won comfortably. It was a tough lesson for the Nemo boys but one which they will learn from.

Fe 10 Hurling League vs Argideen Rangers Sat May 6th

The Nemo Fe 10 hurlers had a great away trip to play Argideen last week. The home side started the better and at half time Nemo were 3-03 to 1-00 down. The Nemo boys stormed into the game in the second half and were soon just a few points behind. But Argideen finished the stronger to record a well-deserved win. Great performance from the Nemo boys who had a great trip to West Cork.

Fe 8 Hurling Blitz Sat May 6th

The Fe 8 hurlers travelled to Bishopstown for a hurling blitz last week. With communions on in Turner’s Cross they were depleted. They had enough players for one team and the team played several games – including a cracking game with Blackrock. The boys had a great time and enjoyed the morning’s hurling. Many thanks to our hosts Bishopstown.

Fe 16 B2 Hurling League vs St Catherine’s Sun May 7th

The Fe 16 boys entertained St Catherine’s last Sunday in a great game of hurling. Our visitors started brightly and soon were 3 points ahead. But thanks to placed balls from Patrick Campbell and Alan Barry Nemo were soon back in the game. The rest of the first half was a really close affair with the sides trading scores regularly. At half time St Catherine’s led 1-07 to 1-05. On the turn over Nemo struck for a goal and two points on quick succession – including a cracking score from Graham Stack - to give them a 3 point lead. With center back Colin Twohig playing really well things looked very positive for Nemo. But St Catherine’s had time to get back into the game and they scored the next 6 points without reply. Nemo started to panic and went for goals when easy points were on offer. Forwards Matthew Kearney, Finn Fhinncadh, David Cotter and Alan Barry all had great goal chances. The St Catherine’s goalie was excellent and made 3 great saves. In the end Nemo lost by a single goal. Final score was 1-14 to 2-08 for the visitors. This was a very positive performance from the Nemo boys and if they had some luck they might have got something from the game. It augers well for the rest of their league campaign. They will take a break from games now until after their exams.

Girls Fe 12 A Football League vs Carrigaline Sun May 7th

Played in Trabeg the Fe 12 girls entertained Carrigaline last Sunday evening. Carrigaline had a great 1st half and were well ahead at the short whistle. Nemo stormed into the game in the second half and played really well. They got right back into the game and could have got a draw out of it. But in the end the visitors had a 3-05 to 3-02 victory. Good second half by the Nemo girls.

Last game was Clonakilty and Nemo had a comfortable win against their West Cork rivals. 34 Nemo boys participated with everyone getting game time. They had a great time and now they can look forward to the finals day on June 17th in Pairc Ui Rinn. Well done to all involved.

Girls Fe 16 A Football League Semi-Final vs St Vals Mon May 8th

Played in Carrigadrohid the girls had to dig deep into their reserves for this one. Without several regular A players the Nemo reserves really stepped up to the plate. They played some brilliant football and won out in a very tight and tense affair. Final score was 4-05 to 2-03 for Nemo who now can look forward to a league final against Carrigaline later this year. Well done to the Nemo girls who played their best football of the year to win this one.
