Minor Non-Exam Football League vs Eire Og Tues May 9th

Played in ovens the non-exam minor team had a very good league outing against Eire Og last week. They played some excellent football in the first half and were 5 points up at the break. Eire Og came back into the game in the second half but Nemo kept in front with some excellent well taken points. But they were wasteful in front of goal and they missed a number of gilt edge goal chances. This came back to haunt them as Eire Og struck for a sucker punch goal in the last minute. This decided the tie and Eire Og ran out deserved winners 1-12 to 1-10. A very good performance by the Nemo boys who could have just as easily won the game with a bit of luck.

Fe 10 Football Exhibition vs Carrigaline Weds May 10th

The Fe 10 boys entertained the crowds at Pairc Ui Rinn last week during the half time interval of the minor football final Cork vs Kerry. The boys had a great time representing the club in the exhibition game and were keen to show off their skills. They enjoyed themselves immensely. Maybe someday some of these boys will represent Cork on big occasions like this. Well done to all involved in organising the exhibition.

Girls Fe 12 B Football League vs Bishopstown Thurs May 11th

The Nemo Fe 12 B team headed to Bishopstown for a league encounter last week. They found the going very tough in the first half as Bishopstown were much stronger in the key areas of the field. The girls rallied in the second half and made a game of it. But they had left themselves a mountain to climb after the first half and in the end they lost 5-04 to 2-02.

Fe 12 P1 Football League vs Fermoy Fri May 12th

Played away Fermoy were by far the best team the boys have met this year in the league. They had some excellent players and they played a very good brand of football. The Nemo boys matched them for much of the first half and were only 3 points to 1 behind approaching the short whistle. But Fermoy scored two quick fire goals to leave the Nemo boys 8 points behind at half time. Nemo played very well in the second half but the Fermoy boys were that bit better. In the end Fermoy had a well-deserved 5-07 to 1-05 victory. Well done to them – they were excellent on the night.

Fe 7 Football Challenge vs Bishopstown Sat May 13th

The Nemo Fe 7 boys played their very first football game last Saturday when they entertained near neighbors Bishopstown. Nemo had 26 boys participating and each club had enough to form 3 teams. A mini blitz was run off with 9 games in total played. The boys from both clubs had a great time and everyone enjoyed the occasion. Hopefully we will see these boys play many more games for Nemo in the future. Well done to the coaches and mentors on both sides. And well done to all the boys who participated.

Fe 11 Football League vs Kiltha Og Sat May 13th

The Fe 11 footballers played Kiltha Og last Saturday. Nemo Dubh had a comfortable win playing some good attacking football. Nemo Glas had a tougher hour and were just pipped at the post by a single point. So won one, lost one. Honours even overall. Both games were very entertaining with the Nemo boys playing a good brand of football.

Fe 8 Football Blitz Sat May 13th

The Fe 8 boys continued their Rebel Og monster football blitzes with an entertaining morning of football in Passage last Saturday. 20 Nemo boys participated and they were split into 3 teams. They played selections from Bishopstown, Tracton, Douglas and Sliabh Rua. They had a great time and the Nemo mentors were very happy with the skills they displayed on the day. Many thanks to Passage GAA for hosting the event.

Fe 9 Football League vs Mallow Sat May 13th

Played in Mallow’s fantastic GAA complex the Fe 9 boys had an entertaining trip last Saturday. They had 30 players and played two teams. The game was played in a gale and this somewhat spoilt the proceedings. The Nemo boys did cope better with the conditions and in the end prevailed in both games. They had a great time and it was an enjoyable trip away for them.

Girls Fe 12 A Football League vs Douglas Sun May 14th

Played in Trabeg the Fe 12 girls played out a very entertaining league game with near neighbors Douglas last Sunday. There was a strong wind on the day and it favored Douglas in the first half. However, Nemo were well able for the conditions. Unfortunately the girls kicked a lot of wides in the first half. But they were only a point behind at half time and with the aid of the wind in the second half they began to get on top. They dominated the second half and they got goals at vital times. Eventually the won by 7 points on a score line of 3-07 to 1-06.

Fe 12 C3 Football League vs Glanmire Sun May 14th

Played in Trabeg the Fe 12 boys had a good battle with their Glanmire counterparts last Sunday. Scores were hard to come by in the first half. Glanmire however, took their chances when they came. At half time Nemo were two goals behind. The boys battled bravely in the second half and really made a game of it. But Glanmire had done the damage in the first half. Final score was 3-05 to 2-02 for the visitors.

Girls Fe 14 A Football League Semi-Final vs Carrigaline Mon May 15th

Played in very poor conditions in Trabeg this was a very exciting contest. With the wet conditions that prevailed scores were always going to be hard to get. Nemo did very well in the first half and with the aid of the elements were 2-01 to 0-01 up at half time. In the second half Carrigaline brought the fight to Nemo. But the Nemo girl’s defense was excellent and they kept the Carrigaline girls at bay for much of the half. In the end thanks to two late goals they had a somewhat flattering 4-04 to 0-05 win. They can now look forward to the league final against Naomh Aban next week.

Other Club News

Well done to the 4 Nemo boys on the Cork U17 football team that contested the Munster final on Tuesday May 16th. They are John Corcoran, Mark Cronin, Ronan Dalton and Adam Coleman. Indeed Mark contributed 3 points from play on the night. It was not to be Cork’s night with Kerry winning by 0-15 to 0-10. But it was a great achievement for Nemo to have 4 players on the panel. Well done boys!
