Nemo Underage Report July 6th 2017 - 06/07/2017

Fe 13 Camogie vs Na Piarsaigh Tues June 27th

Played in Trabeg. This was the Fe 13 girl’s first outing of the year. They played very well and led for most of the game. Scores were hard to come by and with a few minutes left Nemo were one goal ahead. But Na Piarsaigh scored a goal from a 20 meter free and in the last minute of the game they got a winning point. It was unfortunate for the Nemo girls who competed very well throughout but just were not able to kill the game off. Very good performance which augers well for the rest of their league campaign.

Fe 18 Football Challenge vs East Kerry Weds June 28th

An unusual challenge for the minor footballers last week. They played divisional side East Kerry in Trabeg in an entertaining challenge game. Three 20 minute periods were played allowing Nemo to try out different combinations from their panel. In all 3 periods they competed very well. They took some excellent scores and overall the exercise was very beneficial. In the end East Kerry won on a score line of 1-17 to 0-14. Many thanks to them for travelling to Nemo for the game.

Fe 13 P1 Football League vs Na Piarsaigh Thurs June 29th

Played away the boys started very brightly. They won the toss and opted to play with the strong wind. They made full use of it and built up a decent lead by half time. As expected the home side rallied early in the second half and quickly had 1-02 without reply. But the Nemo boys steadied the ship with some very well taken points. In the end Nemo had a comfortable win. This completes their P1 football campaign. Hopefully they will have done enough to qualify for the knock out stages of the league.

Fe 15 Camogie League vs Douglas Fri June 30th

Played in Douglas this was a very competitive game. Scores were hard to come by as defenses were generally on top. The sides were level for most of the first half but 2 late goals for Douglas put them in the driving seat for the second half. It was a lead they were never to relinquish and despite the Nemo girls best efforts they couldn’t get through for scores. In the end Douglas won 4-02 to 1-00. Very commendable performance by the Nemo girls who competed very well throughout.

Girls Fe 16 B2 Football League vs Donoughmore Sat July 1st

Played at home this was a very entertaining game between two attack minded sides. The teams traded scores several times early on before Donoughmore started top get on top. The visitors scored some great points to give them a half time lead of a few points. But the Nemo girls dominated the second half. They scored some great goals after some excellent attacking play. In the end Nemo held out to win on a score line of 5-05 to 2-09.

Fe 11 Football League vs Carrigaline Sat July 1st

Played in Carrigaline the Fe 11 boys had a very competitive outing against Carrigaline last weekend. Each club had two teams and both games were very tight affairs. Great skill on display from both sets of players. Nemo shaded it in one game and lost the other narrowly. So honours even overall. The Nemo boys played very well and their mentors were very pleased with all aspects of the performance.

Fe 10 Football League vs Killeagh Sat July 1st

A home game for the Fe 10 boys. Both clubs had enough players for two teams and two games were played. Both Nemo Dubh and Nemo Glas played very well and both teams registered wins. They played some great football demonstrating all the skills they have been learning at Saturday morning training and in the recent Street Leagues. Well done Nemo.

Fe 9 Football League vs St Nicks Sat July 1st

The Fe 9 footballers entertained St Nicks last Saturday. Both clubs had enough players for two teams. The football in both games was of a very high standard and very competitive. However, in both games, Nemo shaded it on the score board. The boys showed a lot of skill with some excellent kick passing. Well done to both sets of players for a very entertaining hour’s football.

Fe 8 Hurling Blitz @ Cloughduv Sat July 1st

13 Nemo Fe 8s travelled to Cloughduv for a hurling blitz last Saturday. The boys played selections from St Colum’s, Newcestown and O’Mathunas. All the games were competitive and the boys had a great time.  These young hurlers are developing very well and these blitzes will bring them on a ton. Many thanks to our kind hosts Cloughduv who looked after the boys very well on the day.

Fe 10 Camogie Blitz @ St Vincent’s Sat July 1st

The Nemo Fe 10 girls took part in a camogie blitz last Saturday in St Vincent’s. They played the Glen, Brian Dillon’s and St Vincent’s. All the games were very close and the Nemo girls acquitted themselves very well. They lost by a goal to the Glen, they won by a goal against the hosts St Vincent’s and they lost by 2 points to Brian Dillon’s. The last game against Brian Dillon’s was a cracking contest with great scores and skill from both sides. The girls had a great time and they really enjoyed the day. Many thanks to our hosts St Vincent’s.

Fe 8 Camogie Blitz @ Carrigaline Sat July 1st

The Fe 8 camogie girls travelled to Carrigaline for a blitz last Saturday. They played selections from Sarsfields, Bishopstown and Carrigaline. All the games were tight affairs with no more than a puck of a ball between them. The girls had a great time and really enjoyed the experience. Thanks to Carrigaline for hosting.

Fe 13 Hurling Tournament @ Whitechurch Friday June 30th

The Nemo Fe 13 hurlers took part in a tournament last week in Whitechurch. This was a 9 aside blitz format tournament. They had a great tussle with Aghada in their first game. Unfortunately they lost by a single point. In their second game they played the hosts Whitechurch. They had better fortune in this game and they recorded a nice win. Finally they played an excellent Lisgoold team. The Nemo boys competed well but Lisgoold were the more accomplished hurlers and in the end they won well. Excellent experience for the Nemo boys who enjoyed the evening’s hurling. Thanks to our hosts Whitechurch for the kind invitation.

Fe 18 P1 Football League vs Eire Og Mon July 3rd

Played in Trabeg this was very much a game of two halves. In the first half Nemo played some excellent football. Their link play was excellent and they got in for some very good scores. At half time they were 4 points ahead. But inexplicably Eire Og completely took over in the second half. The Nemo inside forward line was dominated by their Eire Og counterparts and they just couldn’t score. At the other end of the field Eire Og didn’t have any problems and got in for some good points and goals. In the end Eire Og had a very comfortable win. Much food for thought for the Nemo selectors after this game.
