The 2025 champions record their third tournament victory

Last Saturday we hosted the 4th Annual Jim Cremin Over 35s Memorial Tournament welcoming 11 teams to the club. Nemo entered two teams, an older team and a younger team. Paul Kerrigan fell somewhere in the middle and fell in with the older team!

Despite all the rain during the week, the four pitches were still playable. A few heavy shower during the day didn't dampen the enthusiasm.

The younger Nemo team were in the group of five with Castlehaven, Bishopstown, Fulham Irish and Kilmurry.

Nemo, Castlehaven and Fulham Irish ended up on equal points after the group stages, but the two team to progress to the semi-finals were Castlehaven and Fulham Irish who had better the scoring differences pipping Nemo by just one point.

The older Nemo team won all their group games and progressed to the semi-finals from a group with Templeogue Synge Street, Douglas and Eire Og.

Ballincollig progressed from the group with Carrigaline, Russell Rovers and Macroom.

Nemo were drawn against Fulham Irish in the semi final and after a copetitive match, Nemo progressed to the final. The highlights were a goal from Jerry Kerins after some nice work from Peter Morgan and Paul Kerrigan and a top corner save touches off the post from goal keeper Brian McNally, who was dropped for the final.

Castlehaven overcame Ballincollig in the other semi final to set up a tasty final.

The final was played under lights and in front of a large crowd. The game started with a long ball in from Paul Kerrigan to Jerry Kerins who found himself inside the defense. He coolly rounded the keeper and slotted the ball to the net. Incidentally, Jerry Kerins scored a goal in every game bar the first game.

Castlehaven rallied in the second half with some nice scored from Mark Collins but with time running out, Nemo held onto the ball to record their third tournament victory.

After the final, all team went into the clubhouse for refreshments. The ladies committee played a stormer again, serving up over 250 hot dinners to the players.

Player of the tournament went to Cormac Hughes from Fulham Irish.

Denis Cremin, brother of Jim, presented the cup to Nemo captain, Kieran Stone.

Denis had some lovely words about Jim.

Thanks to the Cremin family and to the tournament committee, Eoin Weldon, Dylan Mehigan, Ciaran O'Shea and Rory Duggan.

A great night was had in the club after.
