COUNTY FOOTBALL LEAGUE DIVISION 4
KISKEAM 1-11 NEMO RANGERS 0-12
Kiskeam survived a nervy finish to overcome Nemo Rangers in a lively tie at Kiskeam. Both sides contributed to excellent passages of action, the outcome going right down to the wire.
Ultimately, a Seán O’Sullivan goal proved crucial in the opening half yet Nemo came ever so close to snatching a late equaliser only for Ross Corkery’s effort for a two pointer hit the upright and away to safety for a relieved home side.
A few minutes earlier, the former county underage player rose an orange flag to ensure a lively finish. However, Kiskeam hung on for a win they just about deserved.
O’Sullivan’s goal gave Kiskeam the perfect platform only for Nemo to respond with a two pointer from Shane Buckley in addition to flags for Conor Shalloe and Corkery helped secure a narrow lead. Both sides enjoyed spells of pressure, Shane O’Riordan and Maculey Cronin pointing for Kiskeam.
Though Corkery squared up the contest, O’Sullivan edged Kiskeam ahead 1-5 to 0-7 at the break.
Nemo laid down a marker on the restart, Dara O’Sullivan and Conor O’Donovan posting three points. Kiskeam found themselves on the backfoot only to respond positively through the grafting play of John Angland, Kieran O’Connor, Gene Casey and Maurice Casey. A run of points from O’Riordan, Maurice Casey and O’Sullivan pushed Kiskeam 1-10 to 0-10 to the good.
Nemo weren’t done, Corkery hit a mighty two pointer to leave the minimum between the sides. Though O’Sullivan replied with a Kiskeam point, a close finish saw Corkery come ever so close to snatching an equaliser.
