Nemo claim County Junior B League Camogie Title

Nemo Rangers 2-7 Kilbree 0-8
In their first year up the ranks in Junior B our Junior Camogie Team continued their unbeaten streak in Cork Camogie by taking the County League final in a great game against Kilbree in the magnificent Cork Camogie grounds in Castle Rd before a great crowd.
After a delayed start, Kilbree opened the scoring just after throw in with a point from play.
Cassandra Fitzgerald got the opening point from play from Nemo after 3 minutes with Caoimhe Power pointing a free shortly after to put Nemo ahead.
Exchanges were fast and furious with top of the ground Camogie being played by both teams.
The Nemo full back line of Aoife Mulcahy, Marta Scully & Alanna O Neill were outstanding in the opening 20 minutes as was Megan McCarthy O Donovan who had a brilliant evening in goal.
Izabela Markiewicz was having a stormer at Centre Back as well, constantly thwarting attacks from Kilbree with her magical stickwork and positioning.
Kilbree pulled back a point to level the scores on 6 minutes but after some neat interplay up the field the marauding Caoimhe Power took a ball on the run on the 40 and solo towards goal before crashing an unstoppable shot into the top corner - Goal.
Power added another free to put Nemo back in front.
Kilbree then tacked on 3 points from play and frees but a lovely interchange between Gemma Heaphy and Ella Redmond saw Ella score a great point.
Kilbree scored a free before half time to leave the score at Nemo 1-4 Kilbree 6 points with Kilbree turning over with a wind to their backs.
Coach Martin Kearney imparted some words of wisdom at half time and sub Ellen Twomey was introduced with a positional switch seeing pinch-hitter Seoirse Collins moving over on Kilbree danger forward, playing with 12 on her back and Laura Smith going to the opposite wing, a move that worked really well with both players thundering into the game in the second half.
With Markiewicz continuing to hurl up a storm from Centre back and Grainne Kearney and Aoife McTaggart now driving the team on from midfield Nemo got 2 frees which were unfortunately sent wide but Kilbree had some misses also.
After 10 minutes of second half Caoimhe Power pointed a free with Cassandra Fitzgerald landing a monster of a free from midfield to push Nemo 3 points ahead.
Fitzgerald landed a point from play shortly after, before the defining moment of the second half when on 19 minutes the brilliant Power won a dirty ball on the wing and drove a long shot towards goal that deceived the Kilbree keeper and ended up in the net.
Nemo 7 points up on score line of 2-7 to 6 points.
Kilbree responded as expected and threw everything at Nemo but with Nemo defense holding firm with Full Back Marta Scully and corner back O Neill in particular, playing out of their skins, Nemo forced Kilbree to take points which they did on 29 & 31st minutes reducing the deficit to 5 points before the referee blew the final whistle.
Final score line Nemo Rangers 2-7 Kilbree 8 points on another great day for Nemo Camogie.
Thanks to a sporting Kilbree team for a great game and to referee Niall O Neill from Midleton.
Huge congrats to Nemo and their Management Team led by Billy Sheehan who can now look forward to playing Junior A League next year.
The cup was presented to Captain Fantastic Ella Redmond who led the team from the front on the night.
