Nemo Rangers Street Leagues 2025: 54 Years of Games, Growth & Great Memories

...
Finals Day – June 14th, 2025

The 2025 Nemo Rangers Street Leagues reached another milestone this year as we proudly celebrated the 54th edition of this much-loved juvenile event. First held in 1971, the Street Leagues have become a treasured tradition within the club—where so many of our youngest members first experience the thrill of hurling, camogie, and football.

From their humble beginnings with teams formed by neighbourhood and street, the Street Leagues have evolved into a club-wide celebration. Today, children from across all areas of the club join forces, creating new friendships and strong bonds that go far beyond sport. Small teams and mini games ensure that every child gets a chance on the ball, developing both skills and confidence in a fun, inclusive environment.

This year’s Street Leagues came to a wonderful conclusion on Saturday, June 14th, with our Finals Day—always a highlight of the club calendar. Despite a few light showers, the weather mostly held up, and spirits were high throughout the day.

The atmosphere was electric as the children gathered with their coaches and paraded proudly around the pitch behind Sean Murphy on the bagpipes, cheered on by proud parents and supporters. Ciarán O’Shea, Chairman of the 2025 Street Leagues, officially opened the event and welcomed families to what proved to be a fantastic day of sport and celebration.

The girls' camogie finals kicked things off, with our U6s, U8s and U10s showcasing their skills and determination. This was followed by the boys’ hurling finals, and then the U6s, U8s and U10 football finals—with girls playing first, followed by the boys.

We also held skills competitions throughout the day.

After a series of exciting matches, medals and trophies were presented to all players, recognising their efforts and enthusiasm over the past few weeks. Every child went home with a medal and a party bag, and more importantly, memories to last a lifetime.

Fun, Laughter, and Dunk Tanks!
One of the biggest highlights of the day was the dunk tank, which had children lining up for their chance to soak their brave coaches. With cheers and laughter echoing around the pitch, it was hard to tell who enjoyed it more—the children or the coaches!

A Community Effort
Events like the Street Leagues wouldn’t be possible without the time, energy and support of so many. A massive thank you goes out to all the parents for entrusting us with their children and encouraging them every step of the way.

We’re also incredibly grateful to:

  • All our volunteer coaches and referees for their tireless dedication.

  • The Ladies Committee for the teas, coffees and delicious sandwiches.

  • The Social Committee for organising a wonderful bake sale.

  • The Healthy Clubs team and Scally's SuperValu Blackrock, who provided fresh fruit and nutritional advice to help fuel the day.

  • Our sponsors, especially John Kidd and John Wallace of Morleys Suit Hire who have been involved for many years.

And a very special thank you to Taoiseach Micheál Martin, a proud Nemo Rangers member, who joined us once again this year. His continued support and presence mean a great deal to the club and to our young players.

Here's to Year 55!
As we wrap up another unforgettable year of Street Leagues, we look forward to 2026 and the 55th edition of this beloved Nemo tradition. Here's to more friendships, fun, and future stars of Nemo Rangers!

Go raibh míle maith agaibh go léir – and see you next year! 🖤💚
